Many people might not know this, but we (Jason & Virginia) lived in Uganda for 16 months in 2014 and 2015. We continued to run Facedown despite having limited access to internet and electricity at times. It was a challenging, exciting and rewarding time in our lives. This is when we became very close friends with Carol Adams who began YES Uganda over 20 years ago when many western “missionaries” were terrified to go anywhere near Uganda! She was denied any support from “sending / missionary agencies” and was told she was crazy. But she went anyway, and 20+ years later she is still there!
We recently had the opportunity to return to Uganda to visit with Carol and spend time in the YES offices. We also serve on her board of directors so we have first hand insight into the financial side of her operation and can honestly say it is the most reputable and honest non profit that we know about.
You can read about our recent visit here: https://www.yesuganda.org/sweet-reunions
More Than Sound is a very important part of what Facedown is. We feel that we have a responsibility to use our platform for something more than just music and we back that up by donating monthly to organizations like YES. So when you order from Facedown, know that you are also helping!
Finally, if you would like to directly bless Carol and the work she is doing in Uganda, please feel free to support her with any sized donation. You can be assured that 100% of your money goes to the work happening there on the ground. You can donate here: https://www.yesuganda.org/support/ . The most needed designation right now is probably for “Manna Rescue Home Operations”, so if you do feel led to donate, please select that from the drop down list of options, or mention it through paypal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and joining us as we strive to be More Than Sound!
